round two

Most of you know the story by now, so I won't bore you with the details of the 3-plex from below, and how it stole lots of our time, money, and emotions, only to leave us at square one again.  However, I will tell of the faithfulness of God.  Travis and I are amazed at how relieved we were to walk away from "our dream first property."  God gave us peace that surpasses understanding.  When we found out the deal wasn't going through because of FHA, we worked so hard on trying to make it work via other financing, until we realized that God was shutting the door on it and trying to teach us to trust him.  We gave it up to Him and He gave us excitement as we started at the beginning again.  We want HIS will this time around, not our own.  If it's this marvelous duplex, all praise to Him.  If not, all praise to Him.

I am often reminded of this John Piper quote:

"Impatience is a form of unbelief.  It's what we begin to feel when we start to doubt the wisdom of God's timing or the goodness of God's guidance."

And this one from George MacDonald:

"Man finds it hard to get what he wants, because he does not want the best; God finds it hard to give, because He would give the best, and man will not take it."

As soon as the owner of the 3-plex released Trav and me from his property, we placed an offer on the duplex, and it was accepted without further negotiations.  Yesterday, the inspector raved about how well this 109 year old building has been taken care of, and how he never sees old homes in such good condition.  We're closing, Lord-willing, on July 21st.

I'm thankful we serve a loving, faithful, and sovereign God.
